Boston Beer companie’s profits are up 89% in the first quarter on increased shipments of their seasonal brews and teas. They’re revenue has increased to $7.5 million, up from 4 million a year earlier.
Although Bost Beer Co. owns a small percentage of the beer market, the demand for their higher quality, higher priced beers has risen significantly.
They’ve also inceased their sales force and pumped more money into their advertising. Kudos to Bost Beer Co!
If you’ve ever tried to buy boose online, you may have noticed that shipping via the United States Postal Service isn’t an option. That’s because an archaic law from 1909 prohibits the shipping of wine or beer. Private shippers like UPS and FedEx have cornered the shipping of booze.
The post office, however, is financially stressed, and allowing the shipment of beer and wine may be the source of revenue it needs to help prevent mass layoffs.
Nost just that, but shipping via USPS willy likely be much cheaper than shiping via UPS or FedEx. Flat rate boxes, baby!
Think drinking on the job is a thing of the past? Well, it’s still alive and well.
Many think that the popular tv show MadMen has encouraged the rebirth of drinking on the job.
Others say that its never stopped. Well, at least at big advertising agencies like BBDO, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Grey Group, and Mindshare.
In fact, recent studies suggest that mild intoxication wildly boosts creativity, allowing for creative solutions to difficult problems.
Many companies are adopting this openess to alcohol, including many tech startups in the west. Many breakrooms have kegs or bottles of wine, but employees often must swipe their ID card to make sure they’re not drinking too much.

Kirin, a massive Japanese brewer, has invented a foam that is dispensed on top your beer. This foam brings your beer to a friget 23 degrees farenheight while air is simultaneously being blown into it. How the process actually works has not yet been explained.
The foam will keep your beer pretty damn cold for about 30 minutes.
The foam machine is currently only available in Tokyo, but is expected to be available in the Unites States.
A 22 year old man was denied his 6 pack when an employee didn’t believe the man’s age. Jose Sanders suffers from a pituitary disorder that stunted his growth, making him appear far younger than he truly is.
According to police, Sanders became very upset and started using profranity. Even when the police showed up, he continued to use expletives. He was arrested for disordering conduct and will probably end up paying the $276 ticket.
Sex deprived fruitflies will turn to alcohol. Yes, I said it. Fruit flies 
Researchers placed virgin male flies in a dish with either virgin females or mated females. The males were paired up several times a day with females prior to being given the change to get drunk. They were later given food with 15% alcohol and and food without alcohol.
The males that had already mated preferred the booze free food, but the virgin males drank twice their body weight.
The conclusion? Fruit flies brains operate the same way ours do. We drink to become unihbited.
Gene Simmons has his hands in everything. Now he’s opening up a restaurant called “Rock & Brews” in Los Angeles that will focus on craft brews from all around the world. The atmosophere will replicate that of a rock concert.
The funny part: Simmons doesn’t drink. He thinks beer is “digusting.” Oh, well.
The bar is slated to open on April 3rd.

n yet another move to make their brand more relevant, MGD64 will become Miller64. However, the beer itself has not changed.
Why did they do this? Supposedly their consumers were calling it Miller 64, so they went ahead and decided to rename it. Why not, right?
The re-release will be supported by a national marketing campaign targeted at of-age consumers who enjoy a balanced lifestyle. Whatever that means.
The big brands in commerical beer are getting desperate as liquor and craft beer sales continue to soar.
Coors will be launching their ice tea beer in Canada next month. If successful, they will realease it in the U.S. My guess, though, is that we’ll never hear about Coors Light Ice Tea again. But I’d try it.
Oh, and it’s only 4%.
